Executive consulting

Executive consulting with implementation in view.

An experienced partner for business owners and leadership teams seeking clearer operational decisions and focused action.

Does this sound familiar?

Leadership teams regularly face questions with several possible answers. Invest in capacity or improve the current operation first? Keep an activity in-house or organise it differently? Introduce more standardisation or preserve local freedom? The operational consequences are not always visible in the first financial comparison.

We help structure these questions. We listen to different perspectives and investigate which information could make a difference. You do not need a finished consulting brief. A recurring problem or an unresolved choice can provide enough reason to open the conversation and clarify the actual decision.

Focused action

Clarity for decisions that matter.

Growth, cost pressure, a changing footprint or an acquisition can raise questions affecting several functions at once. We help owners and executive teams define the issue, test assumptions and compare scenarios. Ronald contributes experience in operations, supply chain and general management.

The discussion starts with the direction of the business: what must the organisation be capable of, which decisions are ahead and where is more insight needed? Operational excellence can be an important driver within that strategy, but is not automatically the complete answer. We make operational consequences visible and identify any additional expertise required.

From insight to action.

  1. Test assumptions against operational reality

A proposal often relies on expectations about demand, capacity, available knowledge or how quickly people can change. We make those assumptions explicit and review the evidence from data and experience within the organisation. This clarifies where a view is well supported and where further investigation would be useful.

As a general example, additional capacity may appear attractive while the existing constraint lies mainly in scheduling or handovers. That decision first needs a better understanding of the operation. Ronald contributes his operational experience to investigate these connections, ask questions and make potential consequences open to discussion.

  2. Relevant to SMEs and larger organisations

The scale and complexity of your organisation shape our collaboration. An SME may benefit from direct work with its owner; a larger organisation may need alignment across several functions and locations. The approach fits the people available and their authority to make decisions.

  3. Advice that gives direction to action

We translate strategic questions about organisation, footprint and transformation into decisions and next steps. Together, we test assumptions, set priorities and involve your people. Advisory work and any responsibility for delivery are agreed separately.

Approach

Develop a shared understanding of what comes first

When several issues need attention at once, a shared assessment helps. We consider their importance to the business, the connections between activities and people’s capacity to implement them. This makes it clearer which step enables another and where a decision can no longer wait.

Your organisation remains responsible for its choices. We support the discussion, contribute operational depth and identify differences in expectations. This may lead to a focused first action or a recognition that an assumption needs further investigation. Progress starts with a decision that the people involved understand and can support.

Fit the advice to your decision-making context

In an SME, strategic and everyday operational questions often sit with the same person. Larger organisations involve more functions, with priorities that may differ by department. We work with that reality and agree who needs to participate to reach useful decisions.

Collaboration can consist of focused conversations and examining a specific question. If implementation requires further support, we discuss an appropriate next role. We clarify what you want to achieve, which contributions are needed and how advice will be shared. The extent of the work follows a clear reason in your question.

A fresh perspective, grounded in practice.

Ronald Schuermans combines more than 35 years of operations and supply chain experience with a practical approach to improvement and leadership.

Ronald Schuermans is the founder and your direct counterpart at Continuo Consulting. He has built more than 35 years of experience in operations, supply chain and general management, in employed and independent roles. Responsibility at plant, executive and COO level taught him both the strategic choices and their consequences on the shop floor.

He has also worked independently since 2012. His approach is practical: understand the situation, substantiate decisions and implement them with the organisation. Respect for people, ethical conduct and involvement guide that partnership. When a question needs additional expertise, Ronald can involve his professional network in a targeted way. Each person’s contribution and responsibility are clearly agreed beforehand.

Meet Ronald

Good to know before we start.

What should we prepare for a first conversation?

A short description of your organisation, the decision or recurring problem is sufficient. Explain what has already been tried and which uncertainties remain. You do not need to send confidential business information beforehand. We agree what information would be useful later.

Can we ask you to review an existing proposal?

Yes. We can discuss its operational assumptions, dependencies and feasibility. We examine the question you want that review to answer and the information available. The aim is a better-supported decision with a clear understanding of what still needs attention.

Is executive consulting useful for an SME?

Yes. In an SME, daily operations and strategic choices often sit with the same person. An external sounding board can help create distance, examine assumptions and clarify priorities. We adapt the contribution to your decision-making context and available time, with attention to what your organisation can realistically put into practice.

Which decisions can we examine together?

Examples include capacity questions, the organisation of operations, collaboration between sites or the sequence of improvement initiatives. We consider the operational consequences and the assumptions behind a proposal. The scope follows your question and the expertise it requires. Sometimes additional information or a different specialist contribution is needed first.

How do you work with existing advisers?

We agree beforehand which question Ronald will address and what others are already investigating. A shared understanding of assumptions, dependencies and responsibilities avoids duplication. Ronald contributes operational depth to the discussion. Your organisation decides who participates in decisions and how the different contributions come together in a useful next step.

Will we receive a report or practical guidance?

The form follows what you need to move forward. This may involve a focused discussion of options, a reasoned assessment or guidance with a next step. We agree beforehand what the collaboration is expected to provide and how it will be communicated. An extensive report is not automatically the starting point.

How do we turn advice into action?

We clarify which decision is needed, what information is still missing and who can take the next step. We consider dependencies and the organisation’s available capacity. If implementation requires additional support, we discuss that role separately. Advice, responsibility for decisions and any further guidance remain clearly connected and understood.

Let’s discuss your challenge.
